This site has merged with my A Puritan at Heart site. If you go there, you will see a link on the main side-bar which says Crazy Calvinist. Clicking on there will get the content that would have otherwise been at this site. Eventually a redirection will be put on this domain to forward it to there, but I need to get the stuff I want to keep off this site first, so please update your bookmarks. Most of my regular readers know, my biggest amount of posts are concerning puritanism, or the Reformed cause historically, so to merge it all onto one site, under a content managment system seems a natural progression. I also of course have visitors and subscribers who subscribe to both sites and covenanted reformeation, and now those same readers will be able to access everything from one domain. This will hopefully cuase the minimum of inconvience to any readers here, it’s just a matter of being patient at the new site till everything is put back on there that I can reasonably do so. Until then this url will remain inactive and new posts will take place over there. But this week I also had a huge abcess in my mouth I had to get treatment for. It has three big festering heads on it and was quite painful, And I have also spent much of the week on and off needing to have my head in a bucket being very nauseous thruogh my medical condition, so its not been the best time for taking on a major project like that. But I work under the assumption, that in that, God is like we are very much, that we all love a trier.

The crazy calvinist link itself on the new site has to be modifed so that when clicking on it, all content is listed, again, plese be patient, but then it will make it easy for Crazy Calvinist only readers to get straight to the bits they are interested in.

Joel Osteen, super theologian!

Excuse the sarcasm! But some of his statements in these videos are concerning to say the least. A pastor which his prominence and “prestige” in many peoples eyes. One can’t help but wonder if he has a clue about anything much to do with theology, doctrine, or what the Bible teaches about much of its contents. It may be unpopular and not PC to say it in our day and age, but one cannot help but wonder if he is a Christian at all, if one makes a rightous judgment on displays such as this below.

Unbending, Unwavering, to the cause

This is an anecdote from the Covenanter wars, in Scotland. I believe it was Guthrie who proclaimed at his execution, “The Covenants, they shall yet be Scotland’s reviving.”  That still holds true in my opinion. The below anecdote is from when Guthrie was awaiting execution, and Mr Pollock with his question was referring to the executioners axe.

Not  long before his execution a Perth minister said to him, “we have a Scotch Proverb, ‘Jouk [duck] that the wave may may go over you. Will you jouk a little, Mr Guthrie?’

“Mr Pollack,” returned Guthrie gravely, “there is no jouking in the cause of Christ.” [cited from “Light in the North” by J.D. Douglas

The Covenanters of Scotland are often referred to as extrme, yet, surely their “extremity” took all mans glory and right set Christ upon His throne, above anyone or anything.  If you are going to call them “extreme” you sould also need to call Christ like wise. It seems t me, if we got those unswerving, unbendable, rigid state of attitude back, where Christ is always set first, is always in view in everything,  ia EVERYTHING, and anything displeasing to him, is immediately shunned, even at cost of death, that it would be a lot better than the ducking the cause of Christ we seem to see on a daily basis now. Half measures and making sure self is still put before Christ and his cause if the cause would cost us the least inconvience, many a time that is true.  Let alone if it cost us life or limb, or the safety of our families, as it did these brave men and women of Scotland.

Day of All Days

Yesterday just about fits the bill as the day of all days: Not long after waking up, I started throwing up, as can be the case with my illness.  But also, last Thursday or Friday, I had a tooth abcess develop.  I have had it come and go, for about five or six years, the dentist can find no reason why it should do. But it can come and go every few weeks, but it rarely gets beyond pea size, so it doesn’t cause me that much bother, and I rarely even have to get any treatment for it, because it just goes on its own.  But by yesterday, my face was like a balloon, and it was throbbing away, so that I was almost demented with pain.  Calling my dentist, their dentists had finished for the holidays, so she got me an emergency appt at part of the community dentists, but it was about an hours drive away.

So, I called a taxi to take me there; I don’t drive myself,  so getting places by taxi is the only choice I have in my wheelchair. The taxi driver drove like  a mad man, and I felt distinctly unsafe on the journey because of it.  But then, me having never been to this practice before, so not knowing till after he had dropped me off, discovered he had dropped at the wrong health center where the dentist is located.   So I immediately call the taxi company but he is well away, and they say they will send one back as soon as possible.

The temperatures were freezing here yesterday; so then,  I not only was in agony with my mouth, and not only in the usual varying degrees of agony in my body with my illness, I then was forced, (there was nowhere else to wait) to sit outside in the freezing temps waiting for 20 minutes for the taxi to come back and pick me back up.  I have never been so miserable! I spent alot of the time during that 20 mins praying just to try and keep my sanity!

Then I figured I best ring the dentist to let them know I Had got delayed, which I did, and realized they was in reachable distance in my wheelchair. The receptionist said to start making my way down and she would come out and meet me half way which she did!  She then proceeded when once inside to make me a coffee to warm me up.

But I saw the dentist, and he said, the abcess was filling half my lower mouth and jaw, and he gave me some anti biotics,  and they will take the tooth out in the New Year.  Now last night,  the pain and swelling got even worse, it felt like my whle mouth, tongue and eveyrthing was on fire with the pain that was coming from it. By this time, the abcess had three big festering heads, all spaced apart running along the gumline of the lower jaw.  But at about nine o’clock last night, it burst, and what a relief!  This morning it is even better still, so despite the dreadful day yesterday,  today is another day, and looks a lot brighter than the past few days, since this started.

The extra pain and suffering is of course the reason my blog has been so quiet,  but thank you Lord, for both preserving me through the ordeal of the taxi stuff, when it seemed that things could not really get any worse, yet they did, and thank You for being a God who hears and answers prayer.

Santa’s Just Reward

Someone should have done this a long time ago to this man in a red suit who takes all the limelight off Jesus and blasphemes his name; The  Scriptures say that Satan (Santa’s words scrambled up) hides as an angel of light, and I have never seen a clearer  example of that being so in Santa, apart from the Papacy of course!
