In today’s modern world, we hear of how it’s a man’s world, and yet women are on equal footing with me in all ways. The feminist lobby has made women take on the roles that years ago, would only have ever been associated with men. I don’t think in every single way this equality is a bad thing, as there are many cultures which view women as inferior beings to be treated as dicated by their culture. Which is often, harsh, cruel existences. The isalmic wives would be a good example. Yet, we get the other extreme, where woman act and behave like men, not just in roles in life but in actual behavour and activities. It’s alot harder to find a “lady” these days than it was years go. We have the new breed of young women who are called “ladettes” in that they go out to the pub each night, drinking till they are out of their mind on alcohol, picking up a strange man in the pub, who they don’t know and it ending up as a different man every tiem they go out. That was behavour that in the past we exclusively associated with men. Sowing wild oats or whatever euphimism of the time was used.
Yet since the media has a big part to play in how women are portrayed and represented and often instigate the next big fad or phase tho they often last years and have big impacts on socieities; we see lesbianism as usual, or as normal as hetrosexual marraige; we even get the anglican church over seeing these same sex marraiges whether in men or women in its churches on almost a daily basis. Especially since legislation was changed last year to give sam sex marraiges the same rights in the eyes of the law as hetrosexual marriage. Homosexuality is no longer a thing to feel shame about; or that only happens covertly, and as a secret life. It’s positively exalted and made to see as normal as any relationship ever was. As legitimate as any relationshp ever was. Yet what does the Bible say about this? A read of Roman’s 1 which addresses both men and woman in unnatural acts, speaks plainly and loudly and there can be no mistake that God views it just as much an abomination in the New Testament as He did in Leviticus where He called it as such.
I think its quite possible that some people are born with a propensity to being attracted to the same sex. Born with our corrupt natures and bodies it doesn’t seem an impossibility that some folks would be. However, when God speaks so plainly on this issue it doesn’t give anyone a licence to sin in this way no more than it does any other. They should either go against the tendency and marry, or live single and celibate. There are choices other than the one many people choose. So yes, in that way, it is a choice because we all have and make choices in life and many of them will be whether to give in to our sinful natures or not.
But the media who has such a part to play in this; look at the commercials. YOu see a cleaning product, or cooking product, its exclusivly a woman in the commercial you see using it. You see a tool being adverstised and you see a man using the product. The lines of different sexes roles are very clearly drawn. It strikes me s the media in this way, is very hyprocritcal since in almost every other way they activiely blur the lines between teh differing roles of men and women as mentioned above. The adveritisments of course, there is money at stake. When the rubber hits the road, you can still see that despite the lines being blurred overwhelmingly by the media between men and women, that they still know there is a difference. The advertisments suh as above, bear that out.
